My Collection of Heads

Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:

Many of you may not know I’m a bit of a collector. In addition to collecting sticks, leaves and bones, I keep a nice collection of heads and miscellaneous body parts. I am quite proud of my collection, as plenty of hard work and play was involved in the removing and de-stuffing of these items. I was pretty upset when my person gathered up all of my heads for this photo shoot, but she gave them all back in the same tattered condition she found them in so all is right in Mister Peabody’s world.

The Heads
Here are my heads. As you can see, I’ve managed to collect a variety of sizes and species. Teddy was my most recent addition and is also my favorite. His head is perfectly ball-shaped and I love playing fetch with him. We’re not sure what happened to the other body parts that were attached to these heads at one point, but my cousin, Bella, is a suspect in their disappearance.

Mowgli’s 9th Birthday

Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:

Today is my birthday! I’m 9 which is pretty old for a great dane. We celebrated by playing in the pool, eating lots of carrots and of course, birthday cake!

My cake had scooby-doo sprinkles all over it.  At first I wasn’t sure it really was OK to eat off the kitchen table. Usually I’m not supposed to, but today is special:

Another Great #PawPawty

Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:

@SylvieDog organized a great #pawpawty at #pussycatisland. Pets arrived in beach atire and partied for a full 24 hours. Participants had a great time and over $1000 was raised for Orphans of the Storm rescue. Way to go @SylvieDog!

I jumping in for a little skinny dip, but wasn’t able to pawty long due to human-work intervention. It looks like stragglers are still hanging out at the Tiki Bar drinking barktinis, so head on over to TweetGrid and join the pawty.  Add hashtag #pussycatisland to your tweets.

Bo, the New White House Dog

Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:

Everyone’s blogging about the new White House dog, Bo (aka Bo Obama, Bobama, Amigo’s New Hope) so we decided that since we’re blogging dogs, we probably should too. We’re excited for Shasha & Malia - we think every kid should have a dog, so congrats!

Bo is a cutie. According to the AKC, Portuguese Water Dogs are an intelligent, athletic, active breed requiring daily vigorous exercise. It’s a good thing Bo has plenty of long hallways to run in along with that big grassy yard!

PETS ACROSS THE GLOBE TO “PAWTY” ONLINE TO
RAISE MONEY FOR RESCUES

Animals using Twitter to connect, build community and help other animals in need

(Canton, OH) - April 3, 2009 – On Sunday, April 5, 2009 hundreds of pets will be leveraging Twitter, the hottest technology, to virtually celebrate a friend’s birthday, whoop it up with their pals, win prizes and raise money for charity.

The Twitter community’s second “pawpawty” is in honor of popular Twitter cat, @brewskiebutt, who turned five on April 1. The party is hosted by six pets (and their human “staff”) from across the globe, who only know each other through Twitter. The first pawpawty, held on St. Patrick’s Day, was so successful that the organizers thought Brew’s birthday would be a great reason to do it again.

Twitter, for those unfamiliar with the application, is a free mircoblogging platform that allows users to communicate through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to the question, “What are you doing?” Users “follow” others to receive their “tweets” (updates on what they’re doing).

Going Places

Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:

We went for two car rides yesterday. We got to run around in a big grassy field after the first one, which was a ton of fun. I spent a few minutes talking to the horses on the other side of the fence and then we got to play with our cousin, Gizmo (a boston terrier) and his kids. We had lots of drinks and cookies over there so I accidentally smeared some chunky drool all over the car insides and out the windows during the 2nd car ride. We ended up back at home after that and I’ve been sleeping pretty much ever since.

Does this fur make me look fat?

Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:

The weather is warming up here in Phoenix. I love spring - it’s my favorite season. It looks like it’s time to shed my winter coat. I’m thinking about going with short black fur again; shiny black with a little silver-gray mixed in. After all, I will be nine next month.

The upside to the black coat is that black is supposed to be slimming. When I was at my vet’s office a couple of months ago, he told my person I could probably get by with less cookies and treats to help me drop about 5 pounds.  I just stood there with my mouth open trying to scream “No! give me MORE cookies,” but all that would come out was drool. It may have had something to do with the jar of cookies I was admiring on his countertop. Any-whoo, I’ll be shedding my winter fur for the next few weeks if anyone is interested in collecting it to knit a sweater or some socks. Watch for new pics of me in my slimming black spring fur on my website.

Stranger Danger Alert

Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:

I attempted to alert my people when a stranger showed up in the yard today. He let himself in through the gates like he owned the place. He was carrying this big noisy machine and started attacking my bushes with it. He hacked them to pieces. Literally. There were leaves and sticks everywhere.

I’m not sure why my people just stood by and did nothing as this stranger loaded my sticks and leaves into a big black bag. He proceeded to toss the bag over his shoulder like Santa with a bag of toys and walked right back out through the gates. All I could do was watch from the window as my stuff was hauled away and I have’t seen my sticks or leaves since. On top of that, I have to go out and re-mark the entire yard now and there’s hardly anything left for me to pee on. @pappup has already alerted her neighborhood to be on the lookout for the Landscape Burglar - watch out for him pups, and let me know if you see my sticks and leaves.
