Where We’ve Been
Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:
Hey everyone. It’s been forever since we’ve tweeted or updated our blog - we’ve missed you guys. It’s been a rough few months for us as Harley passed away on May 5th. We’ve all been pretty depressed, and the person who types for us just wasn’t able to post this update without falling to pieces *tears drop onto keyboard* so we’ve been laying low. Not much more we can say, I guess. Death sucks.
We miss you, brown dog.

Harley, 1996-2010
We have lots to catch up on and are looking forward to seeing what you all have been up to! We hope everyone is well.
xoxo,
Peabody & Mowgli
Game On

Anyone wanna play?

Mowgli did! So here we are tugging:

…and tugging…

…and tugging some more…

…still tugging…

OK Mowgli, you can win.

This game looks like it’s better suited for my intellectual level:

I can pick my own letters? Cool!

Let’s see…where’s that “Y”? This is tough without thumbs:

I WIN! Where’s my treat?

That’s pretty much the last thing I remember.

Happy New Year everyone!
Carving Our Pumpkins
Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged:
We got these things called “pumpkins” today. At first, I wasn’t sure what this thing was. Mowgli and Harley didn’t really seem too interested in it, but I sure was.

I gave it a good lick and it kind of tasted like food:

Then I found out it rolls like a ball:

I realized I could pick this thing up:

So I decided to head for the door and bring it inside:

I really wanted to show it to my stuffed animal friend, but she didn’t seem too interested:

I don’t think my person liked having the pumpkin in the house because she picked it up and brought it back outside where I proceeded to start carving it:

I used my teeth and my claws to carve mine:

Mowgli just poked at his:

Harley got a cute little one:

S M I L E !

More carving, and some eating:

Finally finished. I could have eaten…I mean…carved a little more, but my person said I had enough:

Mowgli’s looks pretty much the same as when he started:

So does Harley’s:

We had a great time with our pumpkins. We hope you do, too! Happy Halloween
Tennis Balls

We got a fresh new pack of tennis balls today. The container makes a popping sound when it opens, and it is SO MUCH FUN to play with.
This is the tube my tennis balls come in:

It’s hard work getting them out of there.
(She took out Mowgli & Harley’s, but I have to get my own):

Here I am with practically the whole tube in my mouth:

I finally got the lid off and nearly got my tongue stuck in there:

My person thinks this is the BEST picture she's ever taken
I SEE you in there, ball!

GOTCHA!!

Look, Mowgli! LOOK!

Then I squished it.

Here’s what all of my tennis balls look like after I play with them:

Our person says it’s really hard to get all three of us looking good in a picture together. It took some work and lots of cookies, but we were able to get a couple shots:

Here we are laying on the white rug that we’re not supposed to lay on:

We thought this one of our backsides was kinda funny, too. We kept getting all tangled up in our leashes so it’s the best one we could get all together. We were hiking at South Mountain with our people a few months ago, before it got too hot.

Raising Awareness-Puppy Mills (Puppy Farms)
Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged: news
We’ve long been advocates for ending the suffering of dogs in puppy mills. We started our first website over a decade ago in an effort to raise awareness of these disgusting breeding farms and offer tips on how to avoid supporting them. We’re excited to participate in this week’s #woofwednesday campaign to raise awareness of puppy mills on twitter along with @molliewestie, @wellbalancedpup, @willmydoghateme, @dobie_evgeni, and others.
About Puppy Mills
(From The Humane Society of the United States)
Most puppies sold in pet stores come from puppy mills — factory-like facilities, churning out purebred puppies in large numbers. Puppy mills look to make a profit; commonly disregard the dog’s physical and emotional health; and do not adhere to sound breeding practices. The result is often sick or dying puppies who suffer from genetic, mental and physical health problems that are not always immediately apparent to the consumer. Thousands of “breeder” dogs live a miserable existence in horrific conditions without hope of ever being part of a family.
Most pet stores are adamant that they do not support puppy mills and that the dogs they sell are strictly from “reputable breeders.” However, many people who purchase their puppy from a pet store can end up with a sick or dying animal. With some research, they will learn their puppy was indeed from a puppy mill. For those who were lucky enough to purchase a healthy dog, it is important to keep in mind that purchasing that dog makes room for more puppy mill dogs raised in horrendous conditions. Every puppy mill dog purchased ensures that the industry continues to thrive.

A Really Big Stick

My people attacked the mesquite tree in the backyard and a bunch of sticks came flying off if it. I found this REALLY BIG one floating in the pool. It was not easy getting it out of there, but I did it.

The people were worried I might break a window flinging this stick around:

It was really hard to pick the whole thing up. It was heavy.

I really just wanted to chew on it:

I finally pinned it down:

And then I got distracted by this empty water bottle I had been playing with and forgot about the stick:

#pawpawty Treats

We won a prize at @RomeoTheCat’s #pawpawty celebrating @BrewskieButt’s birthday. It was donated by @flicka47, who also generously donated treats to @KittenRescue. We were super excited when such a great smelling box arrived at the door. @MisterPeabody picked it up and brought it inside.
Here are some photos of us opening the box and enjoying our treats!

My Collection of Heads, Part 2: Damaged but Still Mostly Intact
Filed Under The Dog Blog · Tagged: stuff
These little fur balls are on their way to becoming a part of my collection of heads. It’s tough to find heads without bodies in the stores, so I have to make my own. Sometimes this process takes years and other times merely minutes. Let’s take a closer look at my future Heads:
Squirrely: My person just wants to put a band-aid on the squirrel. She’s been through a lot and her stuffing is popping out all over the place. It won’t be long before she joins the Heads collection.
